THE CHOIR OF THE SAINTS GARABED ARMENIAN CHURCH OF THE DESERT

"I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart... I will sing with joy because of you. I will sing praise to you, Almighty God. "  Psalms 9:1-2 

The Church Choir is integral to the St. Garabed Armenian Church of the Desert.  As such, it is dedicated to partaking in the Divine Liturgy and singing Christian hymns in praise of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  In the process, the Choir is also preserving and promoting the Armenian Church’s religious and national heritage and its irreplaceable liturgical musical treasures. 

All of you have enjoyed the beautiful music of the Armenian Church Liturgy. Perhaps at one time, you thought it would be nice to sing in the Choir but were reluctant because you said to yourself, "I can't sing." Please be assured that to be a Choir member, it is unnecessary to have a "solo" voice, to know how to read music, or how to read and speak Armenian. Of course, it would be nice if you had those skills but the only thing necessary is a desire to learn and a willingness to attend rehearsals and church services.

 Our Choir has been under the direction of Rouzan Gevorkian, who holds advanced music degrees and has worked for many years as a Choir director in various churches. We are fortunate to have her, but one person cannot do everything alone. We also have Shake Bazerkanian, who has sung for many years in the finest Church Choirs and has dedicated her Sunday mornings to serve the Choir weekly.

 As we started this year, we need more voices. If you like to sing, join us. You don't need to have had choir experience. Participating personally in the beautiful church services will truly be a blessing. Your direct participation will not only help make the worship service rich with music for others, but it will enrich your own life as well.
